Formula 1…?

I used to like this sport when the likes of Damon Hill was driving, and then when Schumacher started winning all the races and the rules changed about tyre and engine useage I lost interest, however, this year I have taken a much bigger interest in it than I thought I would.

In part, I think this is because I was interested to see how new British hopeful Lewis Hamilton did in his first few races, and so far he is doing fantastic that I am hooked again!

Incidentally, he has just won the US Grand Prix, his second victory in a row…well done Lewis, keep it up and you can do Britain proud.

I think he should be nominated for Sports Persoanality Of The Year award – he would certainly get my vote!

Anyone else on here like Formula 1?
Who is/was your favourite driver?
Which is/was your favourite team?
Which is/was your favourite circuit?

My favourite driver would have to Ayton Senna, my favourite team was Jordon and my favourite circuit would have to be Spa in Belgium, although I am not sure if they race there anymore because there was a 15+ car pile-up on the first corner some years back so they dropped it from the racing calender !

As far as F1 goes has there ever been greater than Juan Manuel Fangio

Think you’ve hit the nail on the head there, fascinating reading. I see similarities with Chuck Yeager.

I have to agree with rumcajs, Rally is one of my favorite motorsports too. Its huge thing in here naturally and exspecially in my family. Sadly Lahti didn’t won the competition for the new route in Finnish rally (it stayed in Jyväskylä) They would have drove right next to my homeplace.

Who is/was your favourite driver? Ronnie Peterson/Mr Senna DaSilva
Which is/was your favourite team? Lotus
Which is/was your favourite circuit? Spa (turkey is getting more appealing)

I must admit that for close racing, I watch the bikes…… all of them!! BSB/WSB/MotoGP. With all their support races its damned good fun. With the smaller cc classes, the riders are all like 15/16/17 yrs old and think they are immortal. Crazy stuff, but you gre more overtaking moves in the last lap than in 10 years of F1……… and I like F1!

Moggy..
We agree again…Formula 1 is a bit of bore nowdays.
A bit more exciting than in the days of Ferarri/Schumacher ‘s uncontested reign, but still a bit boring compared to the old days.

I was a bit too young to appreciate Jim Clark when he was alive, I only knew that my brother worshipped him. I can still recall hearing the news of his death and being shattered.

I’ve read that Monaco is the race to attend and I plan on going next year. A friend has a flat there but was disappointed by the recent races.
With virtually no passing, who ever gets the pole should win…unless he spins out or has an (increasingly rare) breakdown. I love the technology, but it’s hardly edge of your seat action. Sort of like watching a fighter take off…lots of noise and drivers skill, and a lot of technolgy, but if you’ve seen one….:D

well Formula 1 is huge thing here in Finland, it has always been atleast when I have been around, and the days when Mika Häkkinen (the one and only who could challenge Schumaher in his prime) was driving certainly where thrilling. This season was supposed to be the ultimate finnish season becouse both of our drivers were in top team…but now we have some Hamlinton from some tiny britania spoiling our day:mad: (:p ) 😡

Who is/was your favourite driver? _ Mika Häkkinen
Which is/was your favourite team? _ McLaren (it will time to get use to renault and Ferrari, the former opponents)
Which is/was your favourite circuit? _Monaco
