Just heard the aircraft has been sold for 21.00
Let’s hope its going to be preserved

Disgraceful outcome. See elsewhere – he’s selling off the engines. Liar.

At least its initials will be saved – although henceforth BB will mean bed & breakfast rather than Blackburn Beverley!

Not everyone is happy

I’ve been forced to sleep in a few aircraft/airliners and they are pleasant places to be. How long will the novelty last? Small question of ‘planning’ too.

Isn’t the Beverly pretty complete internally? The interior will all have to be removed and then I would think the aircraft substantially modified to become a holiday home. If it has to be sold again I would expect this to make it much less likely to be preserved long term. Also the press release suggests that there was financial assistance provided on the basis of the aircraft being put on display surely that raises some questions.

Definitely better than being scrapped! I wish them all the best with the project. It’ll certainly be a very quirky place to stay.

It is perhaps a case of perpetuation rather than preservation, for the moment at least.
As Simondav suggested, the history of aeroplane/diners/ bunkhouses is a bit patchy and plenty end in a rather distressed ( and terminal) state.
Perhaps we could take encouragement from the Avro York at Dx, which for years was used by the Scouts at Lasham as a bunkhouse but finally made the transition into long-term preservation.

It has to be better than it succumbing to the scrapman’s torch tomorrow.

Mr Wiseman has revealed his plans for the Beverley. Not sure if the purists will be happy about this.
Realistically I wonder how feasible are his plans as over the years there seem to have been so many failed aircraft restaurants, bars etc.

It’s nice to have what, if the report is correct, is good news. It’s in rather short supply these days.

I’ve just heard via the Beverley Association that the Bev at Fort Paul has been bought by Martin Wiseman of Condor Aviation International Ltd based in East Yorkshire with the intention of restoring and refurbishing it.

I was surprised at the hammer price of the Herman bomb. (Lot 35) It made £8,500.
