Forum Group Build?

It strikes me that there are many excellent projects being worked on by forum members who may be working on their own or as part of a very small team. Equally, there are many skilled bods on here who may have a few hours spare but no room or desire to build a Whitley or similar in their shed.

My cunning plan is thus:

The project originator compiles list of small parts which need made along with associated drawings.

This list is then posted, and fellow forumites select what part they are prepared to make and pm the project originator to have the plans e-mailed (saves duplication).

At their own cost, forumite makes bracket xyz and posts said item back to project originator.

The catch is that the forumite must stand the cost of the piece of alloy and the postage – taken individually, not too expensive.

This way projects may progress that little bit faster, and for less overall cost to the chap paying the rent to house the bulk of the project. It would also allow many more folk to get hands-on with historic aircraft. Also, think of the satisfaction – I would happily spend a few hours making a few small parts just to have the satisfaction of saying I helped build that Whitley/Whirlwind/Stirling or whatever.

As long as forumites take on that which they are confident they can manage, this might just work – what do you guys think?
