Just an idea I’ve had from a couple of off-board comments and for those perhaps unable to travel down to Hendon in these austere times for the other gathering that was suggested by Rocketeer.
I’d be willing to arrange to host forumites at Newark Air Museum on Saturday 8th December 2012, on the same day as Die-Cast & Model Sale.
It’s reduced rate admission at NAM on that day: i.e. just £4.00 per person; free car parking; and I’d personally stump up the first round of teas / coffees, mince-pies etc.
If anyone is interested just post you interest on here (so I can ensure that I get enough supplies in :D); or if you prefer to head down to Hendon I’ll keep my nose out and let that one run unhindered.
Just a thought and it’s not intended to steel anyone’s thunder. If anyone has any issue with this idea send me a PM and I’ll happily pull the thread! 🙂

Thanks T023 for being the perfect host, and thanks also for the mince pies!
I always enjoy a visit to Newark as you can guarantee a friendly atmosphere and yesterday was a perfect example of that.
It was good to meet some fellow forumites, put faces to names, and hear about the various projects going on.

I really like how you’ve captured that one Brian – some nice skies late afternoon! 🙂

I’m looking forward to seeing all the photos from PP – and I hope the late afternoon meal was OK!
Just a quick edit to see what they might look like and by the time I had walked down to the station I was hungry again 😀

Evening everyone and thank you for the kind words and comments. It was good to catch up with a few of you in slightly less frantic circumstances than is often the case! Plus what great weather you all brought with you – sorry there was no snow PP, but some great light for photographs; including the ‘mince-less pie’.
Thanks to Anon – I now have some Phantom cockpit photos to send off to Poland!
Also thanks to JR for the flowers (don’t ask – too complicated) – the other half has asked me to pass on her thanks; plus I hope the brief discussion was of help.
It was great to hear some positive news, first-hand from Rich and his dad about the Shackleton at Coventry – fingers crossed that the hard work of recent weeks comes together.
I’m looking forward to seeing all the photos from PP – and I hope the late afternoon meal was OK!
Ben – some interesting discussions as usual and I hope everyone was well at the WAVE!
It was good to meet Spit1940, I now know who you are!
Sorry that you couldn’t make it GS – get that travel permit soon.
Finally thanks to all those people who turned out and made purchases at the Die-Cast sale; there were items left over so the museum is looking at the possibility of a smaller sale early in the New Year sometime.
I’m now going to download my photos and then have a beer!
I hope that the other forumites have a great ‘meet-up’ tomorrow and Monday!! 🙂

I am attempting to drag my weary old carcass out of bed, but will be there, can I swap a mince pie for some flowers? I have a few left!
By: TwinOtter23 - 8th December 2012 at 08:12
Just taken the mince-pies out of the oven 😀 and I will be heading off to Newark shortly – I look forward to seeing one or two of you there later!

Hi Brian, sorry to hear that you’re unable to make the small get together – I’m still trying to work out what excuse I will need to get a clear run at a whole day at Newark on Saturday. Please pass on my best wishes to the family and thank you for your support for Cockpit-Fest this year. 🙂
As for the event location- why do think that I selected North(ish) in the title?? 😀

T.O. – I would love to come on Saturday. However I have just got back from Dublin and I am off again to France on Monday.
With several panels ordered as Christmas presents still to be finished and shipped – Ayesha – She who must be obeyed would not be pleased with an additional gallivant (ref. H. Rider Haggard).
Rapidly running out of year…
Have a nice time..
P.S. From up here – Northish – doesn’t start until at least Doncaster…
By: TwinOtter23 - 5th December 2012 at 12:22
More demands, but arrival time noted!! 😀
Opinion – it has been said by some people that I’ve been too free with my opinions, but I like to think that I’ve somewhat mellowed with age and become more circumspect; although some may not agree! 😀
I’d be delighted to assist if I can!!
By: jack russell - 5th December 2012 at 10:09
A light dusting of icing sugar and a sprig of holly would also be quite nice…OK I’m pushing it now, I’ll settle for a mug of tea and one of the delicious offerings!
Will bring the brochures and need your opinion on another matter please!
See you Saturday around 11 ish . JR
By: TwinOtter23 - 5th December 2012 at 07:51
Just when you think it’s all sorted on the catering front along comes another one!! 😀
Even after all of those specific requirements jr – a pass will be waiting for you in the Museum Shop – please don’t forget your booklets!
Thanks for the feedback spit1940, we’ll have some people around to help try an turn you away from the ‘dark-side’ of enthusiast activities!! 😀
As a slight bonus (assuming you like this airframe type) I’m hearing that a project may be leaving the Workshop before the weekend; more details should hopefully be available on Thursday. 😉
