The forum has been running incredibly slowly for me for the last few days; it is patchy but sometimes freezes completely halfway through loading a thread while advising โwaiting for ____://forum…’
No other site I use seems to be affected; anybody else noticed any change?

Well possibly it might.
All my other fora Flyer / Ford Puma / Porsche 911 ran perfectly fine.
Everything depended on the route twixt desktop and Key server.
But, on Pprune you would have missed the high quality debate you get here. I mean hardly anybody would ever have said
“Will it be at…. ?”

As stated above, it had nothing to do with the forum and everything to do with BT’s creaking infrastructure.
Non-BT customers (including myself) have had no problems at all.
Defecting to Another Place wouldn’t have helped you, I’m afraid.

After performing like a arthritic snail for several days its now recovered to its usual self. Well done to whoever fixed it.
I nearly defected to PPRUNE in frustration.

All seems good with me now ๐

Could they be microseconds? Even so that is still 71 minutes!!
By: Creaking Door - 2nd June 2011 at 10:59
Can these be milliseconds? The figure of 4294967294ms is about fifty days!
By: Sky High - 2nd June 2011 at 10:36
Got it! Thanks Moggy I can see them in the first column of yours so follow exactly what you are talking about. I’ve run a tracert here and every hop from Dallas to here is from 24ms to 119ms. And whatever was happening to Key earlier is fine and I am certainly experincing no problems, unlike some of you.:(
By: Moggy C - 2nd June 2011 at 10:23
SH look at mine, you will see most are in milliseconds in double figures.
Then there is the cluster around Essex that are ginormous numbers.
The only thing this tells you is that the problem is neither with the Forum, or with your kit. But at least it explains why.
If all the figures had been <100 then I would have needed to look elsewhere for the problem.

Slow-slow-quick-quick-slow! :diablo:
I took the figures quoted in Moggyโs tracert to be times in milliseconds so the time to get through the now-infamous Ilford exchange works out at about fifty days! Mine was never running quite that slow but the difference between that and the other exchanges highlights the problems there.
Must google how to do this stuff…..threatening my modem with a large wrench doesnโt seem to be working! ๐

I will do, Moggy. What am I looking for – i.e. how do I interpret the figures as you have displayed and which I will see?
By: Moggy C - 2nd June 2011 at 09:01
But the previous posts are from Milton Keynes and Anna near Sandhurst….
Yes, and somewhere on their journey to and from Key they are passing through a problem area.
Do a Traceroute as I have above and take a look. (Google how it’s done, very simple, honest)

They have a number of outage issues going on.
By: Sky High - 2nd June 2011 at 08:26
It is any BT account that passes through a couple of jumps in Essex.
I have the issue and it is simply dreadful.

And, for what it’s worth, This morning, Key is running very slowly on both Google and Firefox, via Sky, but I have no problems with any other sites.

Whoa! Forum running instantaneously now! ๐ฎ
Moggy, thanks for stringing-up with piano-wire whoever needed stringing-up at BT; I now have a new-found respect for the awesome effectiveness of the Webmaster and Moderation Team. Not quite sure how this works now; is it like the Mafia, I wait until you need a favour, I give you my first-born female child..? ๐ฎ
