Rome – Luton 11 euros
Luton to Northampton 13 quid! Go figure
Had a great weekend at Bruntingthorpe then Old Warden – was very surprised to see that the PO-2 was under apparently heavy maintenance – an annual or something more serious?

As I have a, marginally, slimmer shape I can remark on the matching profiles from Mike J and Robbo. They look like bookends.

It wasn’t me. A bigger boy came and knocked it over and then he ran away.

A wise move young man. You’d have been given rags and a jar of panel wipe, and set to work on the Anson’s tail. Bloody minging it was… 🙁

I would like to point out that I was asleep in the second picture. Ha and you thought I was working Suckers !!!!!
Surely Man off His Trolly is more appropriate.
Hey Steve, I typed this with TWO hands, jealous yet 😀

Seems there was no shortage of either management staff or quality inspection staff for the cleaning day at Old Warden.
If I were gnome I’d pick a new forum identity. I just can’t get the visual of “Gnome on the Fence” out of my head.

… just prior to becoming Man On The Trolley. 🙂

Ben / Alex. Did one of the aeroplane washing gang happen to look like this? If so, it would have been photographer and P51-passenger extraordinaire, Gnome On The Fence… 😉

now that u mention that, I think we’ve seen u guys, ain’t it ben?
I’ve been drinking several gallons of beer/cyder/whisky in these days, had a fantastic time with Ben, who showed me SO many interesting stuff!! The OW collection is absolutely stunning, I’m looking forward to come there and attend the airshow, it must really be wonderful!!! We’ve been to Sywell too, and I was lucky enuff to see Susy, which is in brilliant shape and eagerly waiting to take back to the air! Ben’s running an awesome museum there, really worth visiting, and the local bar and restaurant are superb!
But the thing that really blew me off saturday was their Beech and T-6, and the Vulcan too was really amazing!!!!
I’ll stop boring u with this guys, u r probably used to this, but trust me, for me it was incredible and I enjoyed every second of my weekend there!!!
Thanks again to u and yr family Ben, I’m back home now but I already miss UK!!!

it’s a pity that you didn’t stop by and say hello.
It would have been good to meet two more forum-ites.
Alex if you’re coming again in the Summer, please let us know in advance so we can meet and buy you a beer.
Cheers
Andy

TTC, were you at Old Warden yesterday (Sunday)? In which case you may have noticed a small army of forumites with feather dusters.
The PO-2 needs a fair bit of work. A recent propswing cited “non-standard construction techniques” as the reason.

Hi Rob –
not a criticism – fully understand/appreciate the reasons why, just love the aeroplane and always remember it being at OW –
I heard that they were looking for a Harvard is that right (RAF training theme)?
Cheers

Whoops – please do not adjust your set – you may have spotted that the photo wasnt of Alex!
Not functioning properly yet – maybe something to do with the fact that was up at 0430 to take said Roman to Luton airport!
Yes Rob we were there yesterday and saw loads of bods cleaning the aircraft – look superb – a credit to you Rob!- OW blew Alex away as he hadnt heard/been there before….it was great…from Hangar 2 he said, you know I’d love to see a Gladiator and PO-2….funny you should mention that i replied…he thought i was winding him up until i showed them to him!!!
BTW – is the Hornet Moth still for sale? I do hope not!
