[HR][/HR]Pardon my identification incompetence, but my 9 year old son found this piston on Filey beach and we wondered what it was from! Almost certainly not aviation I would have thought, but I have no idea what I’m looking for/at?! Picture below!

It’s about 102mm across and 117mm high, although the casting is cracked around the bottom. It is also holed, looks like con-rod has gone through the top.
Thanks- would be delighted if it’s something interesting (although I bet it’s not haha!)

It’s a diesel I’m afraid. Hard to say what it is from, they mostly look much the same. Probably a 4″ bore engine, possibly a small ships generator, pure guesswork though!
