Hi all,
Does anyone have any info on a crash of a four engined bomber that crashed near Segenhoe Manor, Ridgemont, Bedfordshire?
Their were two eyewitness accounts one say’s it was a Lancaster the other stated it was either a Lanc or a B-17. Unfortunately neither could give a date.
I’ve checked various books but can’t seem to find anything. All help would be most appreciated!:D
cheers

Thanks T-21 that sounds like it should definately be the one!:)
It certainly left a big hole in the ground and from what the eyewitnesses said it rattled a few slates off the roofs’ aswell. 😀
Thanks to everyone else for helping out.
cheers

The Hampden belonged to 50 Squadron and was returning in bad weather and short of fuel . The Lancaster at Tingrith came down near the Redcap Cottages. The Beaufighter X7872 was in the Cranfield circuit at 1,000ft and lost control coming down at Crawley Hill farm in Mill Rd on 22.1.45.

From my Bletchley Park days i think it was a Lancaster, I believe the pilot was an American. I think it may have been dug, from what i was told. I cant remeber when it crashed, but should have it some where.
