I received this email from a Welch person today.
There is a God !!!!
It’s alleged that one of the French football players has failed a drugs and alcohol test yesterday (Sunday) after the match. If this is confirmed as positive, under World Football Federation rules, paragraph 6 sub section 2e, France will forfeit the first group match 3-0.

Carlsberg do not send emails, but if they did they would probably be the best emails in the world.
I like that! 😀 😀

Oh yea, the Scots really know how to conduct themselves in public. Not to mention any of the fights that are started down here by the Scots, or forgetting that the Scots that lived near me in Spain used to start fights with the English and Spanish purely because we aren’t Scottish. Come on get real. We see what the media want us to see, and we mainly see the English doing stupid stuff. That doesn’t mean the Scots dont trash bars etc… And lets not forget that the English in Portugal who are rioting are just a bunch of idiots who drink too much beer and then think they are hard by starting fights. I praise the Portugese police for being heavy handed. They should all be locked up for life on an island in the middle of the ocean with no food. Scum.

Very fair point, and my apologies to our Scottish contingent for my comment. Like you say, at least your supporters know how to conduct themselves in public, unlike those few animals who have the nerve to call themselves England supporters and consequently tar the rest of us with the same brush. In that respect, we have much to learn from our cousins to the north… 🙁
Should the FA and the England team be penalised for the actions of the minority of the supporters, by being thrown out of this tournament and banned from future ones?

Still at least we don’t go around smashing up town centres when we get a going over

Hey. Newcastle did well last season!
5th was a real improvement on the previous season when they were 3rd.

Couldn’t agree more, 1×1 would surely portrait the match in a more appropriate manner.

Hey. Newcastle did well last season!
Such a shame we threw the game away, but I think it proves a few things. Firstly, the match is never over until the final whistle has been blown. Secondly, NEVER play Heskey. We would probably do better without him on the pitch and just 10 men. And finally, we almost beat one of the best teams in the world, ok almost isnt good enough, but we nearly did it. We gave the French a big shock and it just proves that when our team is focused they could be great. Shame we lost concentration at the end.
I didnt think France played all that well, nor do I think England did. The first half was excellent, but the second… Well done France though, never gave up. I look forward to the next match against you!
Pretty fair and objective analysis Mate.
England’s strategy was brilliant and the defense was “Henry-proof”.
1-1 would have been a logical result IMHO.

Yeah and what did Newcastle win last year by doing this ????
games…;) 😀

Agree about Sven: we could do better with the players available.
Scholes wide left is a waste of time. All the best sides, club and country, have balance. Push Ashley Cole into left midfield and play Wayne Bridge at left back (he’s a better defender in any case). Look how many times Gallas was able to overlap down that flank for France.
Scholes should be competing with Owen and Rooney for the places up-front. Scholes’ best role isn’t much different from how Rooney played last night, ie linking midfield with Owen.
The substitutions were almost as bad as Ranieri’s baffling changes in Monaco last month. Fine to withdraw Scholes (ineffective and anonymous) but replace him with Butt and flood midfield. Taking Rooney off was a joke. Yes, he started to look tired, but get the game WON then worry about the “next match”. Luxury substitutions are for when you’re 3-0 up and playing the opposition off the park, not when you’re clinging onto a 1-0 lead and taking a battering.
Heskey? He plays for Birmingham City as of next season. ‘Nuff said. 😀

[QUOTE=SteveYoung]Shows just how sad the Jocks are…
Count this Jock out Steve , I’m British and proud of it – I’m probably as gutted as you , Heskey is a pillock – he did’nt merit a place in the squad let alone a first pick .

Was totally gutted with the result, Heskey is the biggest waste of space I have ever seen! Rooney was having the game of his life last night… What happens? He brings Heskey on. You really have to question some of Svens decisions at times, like bringing Heskey to Euro 2004 over both Alan Smith and Jermaine Defoe. Both far better players in my view. Why Gerrard didn’t hoof the ball away I will never know, can’t blame David James as if he had left it they would have only scored anyway, so at least they always had a chance of missing the penalty (Even though they didn’t).
I actually though David James had a very good game last night.
It amazes me though, if Terry Venables, Kevin Keegan or Glenn Hoddle would have had a result like that (Alright they almost won but fell apart at the end), the English would be calling for their head immediately. Sven seems to get a fair bit of preferential treatment from the fans and the press, and I don’t think he is that good a manager personally. I mean look at the second half, instead of contuning to go for the second goal to kill the game off, we defended way to deep. The only decent attack I can remember England having in the second half was when the penalty was won. He did exactly the same in World Cup 2002, some of the second half performances were dreadful.
I can only hope we can recover, the Switzerland match is a potential Banana skin in my view, if they win against them, I can see the confidence will come back, but if they draw or something…. Will be a difficult match against the Croatians.
Come on England!!!!
By: EN830 - 14th June 2004 at 12:53
should have just done what newcastle does and just keep the ball in the corner for 5 min at the end. might not be pretty, but it works. 😀

we ‘snatched defeat from the jaws of victory’ – but we did play most of the match with only 10 men – was Michael Owen actually on the pitch ??? he was totally out of the game. Strange how the players who made the errors were all Liverpool (or ex) under Houllier – perhaps he was putting something in the tea
Was the guy who missed a penalty playing for Houiller as well? 😀
