With two operations running in Africa (Mali and Central African Republic and a tense situation especially in CAR, will France push for an early introduction of the A400 to gather momentum for its deployment.
1. What is the situation now with the much awaited plane ?
3 were supposed to be delivered
2. Does the fact that France has outsourced air training centre operations for its first time with thales will prevent the plane to be used earlier than planed ? Does the fact that Thales is a civilian contractor prevent their use ?
2Bis. Are the first two A400m combat capable?
3. As France is begging for logistical support loudly, does this impact negatively the political benefits of the challenges in CAR?
3bis. Who are exactly the countries providing support? What resources?
Poland send one plane + 50operator
England sent one C17
Belgian AF has sent a plane with operator but denied earlier report quoting 200 on grounds
Spain is contributing also…
But what are the details?
4. On a more dramatic note, does the lack of airlifting cap in CAR, with a potentially fast changing situation in theater and extra-theater, might turn to another Dien Bien Phu?
5. Could a joint operating force of mainly ex-colonial power in Central Africa have a detrimental effect in term of people opinion and gather support for an opposing force? (yeah I know, this one is rather hair-raising but any contribution from Africa would be interesting to read).
Let’s digress peacefully around those points if you agree during the holidays break. Choose a theme, quote the point and reply.
Thx in advance for the quality of your contributions!
