I called on a long time source of interesting bits and pieces yesterday and out of the blue he produced several of these.
As soon as I saw it my mind yelled Frazer Nash and sure enough, closer examination produces a Stores Ref. of 50E/2275 and a Part No. B 42056 A, plus ARM 714.
I can’t immediately identify it from any of the FN turrets I’m familiar with and I’m gradually working my way through various APs in the hope of spotting it, but I wonder if one of you can get to the answer before me?
Let’s hope it’s something a project out there can benefit from!

wanted FN5 and FN50 parts
Can any of you turret fans help in the location of a FN5 and a FN50 turret rings .I have managed to obtain enough parts recreate both of these turrets , although most of these parts have been dug out of a dump they are slowly coming to life once again with a o lot of patience ,oil , sharp chisel and a big hammer!
Just need the rings now to bolt them onto , failing that has any one got the internal diameter of these rings?
Nearly forgot a quick message to turret boy ,i managed to locate a trigger assembly so i can now make a pattern to have new ones made ,thanks again…..colin:love-struck:

Another call for help!
Can any one help with the overall dimension of the bottom edge of the main support frame for the mid upper?
This will be the distance inbetween the two outer blue markers ,thanks.:eagerness:
By: ballturret - 26th September 2014 at 19:11
Thanks mike , i have the remains of a trigger but i could do with the dimensions of the thumb rest and how do they fasten to the hand grip……………?
By: turretboy - 26th September 2014 at 16:02
Nice work Ballturret!
I can’t help you with mystery items, but I can get you pics of the thumb rest & triggers for your grips.
By: ballturret - 25th September 2014 at 19:23
Heres a couple more pictures of turret parts , as you can i`ve already restored one of the control grips ,unfortunately both sets are missing the thum rest and triggers!
The other two items came of the mid upper turret vertical support frames but again what are they for?
The unit in the middle is a valve which still works and the other should have a piece of tube going vertically through it with a spring fixed inbetween the casting.
The last two pictures are of the FN5 rotary coupling , just to the right you can see the remains of the support frame that i have removed , should the cross section of this be a fold square edge U section with a half round recess rolled into it?……………..

I wish I could be of assistance. I’m not familiar with that type, but it does look interesting!
Welcome to the forum. Any chance you’ll share some photos of your projects?

Another nice find! It’s from a FN120 tail turret with the servo (ammunition) feed control valve on the front. The FN121 used an electric servo feed motor.

No problem – they are very rare – you did well to find one. As for the turret, I don’t recognise it. Air Min might know, or perhaps send a pic to Elvington?

Hi Ballturret – that’s a Fraser Nash accumulator. I need one for the Whitley turret – it’s one of the few parts I had to get made from new. Would you let it go?

Looks like the fitting fastened inside the tail of the aircraft near the rear turret.
Any ideas as to what turret this hydraulic accumulator is of?

FN turret hydraulic pump
Have just discovered there are FN turret fans. Have provisional and complete patent documents titled “Improvements relating to Rotary Pumps” – the “Variflow” hydraulic pump, I believe. Also have designer’s original drawings and memo saying patent is secret and not for publication. Any interest in copies?
