For those of you not already aware of this, the Imperial War Museum is offering free admission to Duxford all day this coming Sunday (10th November) to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Strangely, I think yesterday was the first time I’ve ever been to Duxford and NOT seen anything historic flying. Not bad for twenty years of visits!

Steve…I am very sorry to hear this :(…I hope they got this problem sorted in time for today’s silence…
It is a lovely sunny day here at Duxford today…beautiful clear blue skies…the sun is shining…and a P-51 is currently being put through her paces…from this side of the road it looks like OFMC’s ‘Ferocious Frankie’…:)

Hi Ashley, yes, we did go, but it turned out to be quite a disappointing day. The weather was far too bad for anything to be flying – even the birds were having to take the road train!
But the thing which I found most annoying was the lack of any audible announcement of the minutes silence in Hangar 1. Having duly taken up our place under the Lancaster’s port outer engine, we waited and listened in vain for an announcement which never came. Apparently the announcement WAS made, but could not be heard in Hangar 1. Sounds like it was just a technical glitch, but there were quite a few people – including veterans – who were understandably quite upset at having missed the moment. 🙁
