Freeman Field Recovery Team

Anyone know the freeman recovery team or any members from it? They have recovered some Typhoon parts and I have been trying to get in contact for a while…not been able to get hold of anyone when I call. I know to date they have an undercarriage leg and a radiator, I have heard some of the panels have been found as well….I wanted to confirm what they have.

Anyone have any contact details it would be appreciated….it would help Project RB396.

Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for showing those, I saw them on their facebook page. I would like to seem some closer pictures of the parts to see if there is anything else Typhoon. It is interesting to see the undercarriage leg as it looks like it has either been removed very carefully or it is a spare sent out. The pairs that I recently picked up for the project were NOS and have the aluminium nut with the split pin for the main wheel still in place and the main pin for the top of the leg….in theory it could still have the tag on it somewhere.

I wonder if this is perhaps a spare sent with the airframe or part of the request for replacement parts after the wheels up landing…

They have a facebook page which seems to be th ebest source of information on them. This link may or may not work, but if you search ‘Freeman Field Recovery Team’ on FB you should find it:

A Typhoon leg that they found, and some other bits

The radiator as far as I know is….sort of a shame as although it belongs to MN235 not many knew the one on her is not real!!! I have seen far worse rebuilt….

Haven’t some of these parts been earmarked to be reunited with the RAF Museum’s Typhoon whilst it is on its Canadian holiday?

I hadn’t heard about those, that is interesting 🙂 I had heard something about some cowling being recovered but everytime I ring there is no-one there to take the call and no replies to mails unfortunately.
