Look at this funny but functional aircraft that MK Airlines have placed an intent to purchase order for ten aircraft.

Im suprised that GAF are going to restart the Nomad line as it had a reputation for being incredibly unreliable and expensive to operate.
To me the aircraft looks like a stretched Shorts 360. The Shorts are now showing their age and are in need of replacement by the cargo carriers that operate them. From the blurb on the website the ability to quickly roll containers on and off will be a big bonus. Also as a pure built freighter there will be fewer compromises when compared to pax converted freighters.
Is this the DC3 replacement?

Looks more like the Ahrens AR404 which ended up in the storage area at Mojave.

The GAF Nomad eh… I remember that from the Flying Doctors TV program. Loved the look of it.
There are plans to build new Nomads, see link. I thought it was the Drover that was in the TV series, but I see that the Nomad was as well, so maybe there were two TV series.

With the increase in popularity of turboprop aircraft on short-haul domestic and European passenger flights due to the economic and environmental benefits, it seems that a cargo turboprop aircraft would be ideal for MK Airlines imo.
Btw, what is the story behind MK and their new trading name British Global, are they planning to re-brand themselves, or is it just simply a trading name, and they going to keep the MK Airlines brand?
