French Mid-air Collision

I just caught a very quick report on the afternoon news. A display team at an airshow in France lost two aircraft in a formation accident. I think the newsreader said it was at the 10th annual waterplanes meeting or something like that, but these were not waterplanes, they were piston single engined. The home video wasn’t good, but I think they must have been trainers of some sort. She said the rescuers are combing the water where the two planes came down.

Not nice to see, and not good at all. I didn’t catch if anyone has been killed. I hope not.

Can anyone please give further details of what, where, why etc?

Mediawatch!

“Stunt” pilots “Ejecting”

It is what we all come to expect. At least they didn’t use really dramatic language talking about the dangers on the ground. We had a precautionary landing near here a few years back by a guy in a Moth. Landed safely in a stubble field and then lit a ciggy. The match set fire to the stubble and burned the plane out. The BBC news said it “Crashed in flames”

Very sad about the guy in the Tempete. This looks like the Jurca Tempete team I have seen at La Fert a few times. At least the other guys didn’t get killed. Very sad and condolences (and I am sure I speak for us all) to his family.
