French Squadron Nomeclature?

I’m sure someone can clue me in on how the French number their squadrons. I’ve seen references when researching the Rafale to EC 1/7 and when looking at others there’s a number/number format, and I’m thinking the second number is similar to a USAF Wing, but IIRC seeing different units with the same second number being located at different bases.

Can someone shed some light on this?
