dark light

Friday Before Legends.

It was an overcast and at times drizzley rainy day but there was plenty of flying. Not sure about the Polikarpov, having sat on the ground since last legends, and the way the Russians were throwing it around the sky. Several times. I think it was the two Americans in the P-51s again but a bit of a flat display due to the low cloudbase

I would like to say hello to one of the ladies showing the media around. Hello 😀 .
She remembered me from when I was there for the Avro line up. Comments were passed about the comments passed on this site about said line up.

Hope you like.

Could be one of the last chances to see BBMF Spitfire AB910 in this desert camouflage. I am told it will be repainted at the end of the season in a RAF Polish Squadron scheme, I believe?

Yep. I’m led to believe it’ll be Jan Zumbach’s scheme.

I am impressed by the Polikarpov I-15. Having seen it at Legends last year. I wonder if all their combat aircraft were as good? Considering when it was built that is one heck of a performer.

A mate of mine was flying over today (Friday) from the USA to be at Legends for the Sunday.
He has just phoned me, the US authorities will not let him leave the US owing to the cover of his passport being torn in one corner. To say he is gutted is an understatement.
I will send him the link to this page just to show him what he will be missing :diablo:

Apologies for cr@p quality of photo…but not often you see these two gracing the same patch of sky!

I’m off down (or up to be specific) there tomorrow at about 8am. It was my mate’s birthday in May and we all chipped in to get him a ticket. He’s never been to Duxford before ever. I think he’ll enjoy himself.

I’m thinking of driving down tomorrow, getting digs and then getting to Duxford nice and early Sunday. I’m guessing all the local B&Bs will be booked…but are there any campsites where I can stay nearby in my tent?

Last year was two Americans – Ed Shipley & Jim Beasley. This year Nick Grey is leading with Ed Shipley again following as wingman.
