From the UK to Scandinavia…

I thought you might want to see a couple of photos of aircraft that has migrated from the UK up to Norway and Sweden. Just to let you see that we take care and exercise them on a regular basis. The aircraft in question are:

Vampire LN-DHZ ex- G-DHZZ
Spitfire SE-BIR ex- RW386

Both displayed during the airshow at Kjeller aerodrome outside Oslo today.

Great to see G-DHZZ back in the air and in such a nice set of new clothes to! I can remember her at DHA looking alittle tatty and sorry for herself, fantastic to see the new owner is giving her so love and attention.

SMS88, you will find that Biltema’s warbirds are based almost in your garden 😮 That’s right – they operate out of Ängelholm airport.

A great chance to see both their Mustang and Spitfire in action will be at the Göteborg Aero Show on August 30-31, 2008.

TJ, thanks for nice shots. I wanted to go to Kjeller but then “reality kicked in”…

Thank you Daniel. And we all know that reality su*ks. You’re not by any chance going to Duxford in july? My girlfriend and I are going to Göteborg for the show in August. Trust we’ll see you there. I still owe you a pint…

any chance of seeing the spit and cavalier mustang in the uk this year TJ?

Not to my knowledge. They seem to bring them to Scandinavian venues as a marketing tool for Biltema (Swedish aftermarket car parts supplier). I spoke with the pilot and he said that they planned to fly both a/c for marketing primarily. As I understand it they don’t charge for airshows. The planes are also used for displays when new stores open.

The profits of Biltema have been very well spent buying this Spitfire, it makes me even happier to visit their store in Malmo whenever I pass by. Where is this Spitfire normally based? ( I have a summer house near Angelholm)

In which case you are quite lucky…

Nice to see that there is a good warbird scene in Norway and Sweden. Hopefully Denmark will get a few birds airborne and join the Scandinavian scene soon.
