FS2004

As I have JustFlight’s Spitfire pack on order, I looked to see which aircraft I could fly on CFS3, and unfortunately the one I really wanted to fly isn’t available for it!!

So, after some consideration, I was thinking of buying FS2004.

Is it any good? Does it gobble up your system requirements at all?

Make sure you get the cranes at the docks in, and the road right across the threshold, both added that extra bit of fun to the approach, I flew in there 3 times and only managed to stop before the intersection once!

Some of the local teenagers used the terminal bar as their local, so it was quite posy at 17 to pull up outside in a 150 or 172!

My Dad learnt to fly at ‘Ipswich International’ on Austers in the sixties

help

I have almost done the Airfield now; I have made a terminal building and the hanger in gmax, also a small nissen hut. The grass runways look very good. But I still need a page scan of the original field from an old Pooley’s around 1986, so that I get the correct runway length, helli pad, hold points etc and any other odd things in the proper place.
Thanks,
Kevboy. πŸ™‚

What a waste, can’t believe it’s 9 years since the airfield closed.

I’ve got a 2000 edition in the hanger at Popham. I’ll see if it is in there.

Does the airport have an alternative name? I’ve got Pooleys 2004 and there’s nothing under Ipswich.

Some nice planes are scenery objects. Maybe in the multiplayer, you can park an extra plane next to yours. And flying together is also great in multpilayer.

See this nice warbird formation that I just flew. I flew the Bell P39 and my father flew the Hawker Hurricane.

Don’t worry Daz. The pack of AH is only available at the end of november (after your birthday πŸ˜‰ ). So when you go shopping for the pack, you can also add FS2004 in your basket at the same time. For now, we all have to drool over those nice screenshots. :dev2:

Right, FS2004 it is! I might wait until after the birthday to get it, though.

For now, I shall just have to drool over this….

Go for it Daz.

You won’t regret it! πŸ™‚

As has been said, the graphics are fantastic and much better than CFS3 IMO.

With the amount of available aircraft scenery & airport addons etc, you can transform the sim to something quite outstanding that will give you an excellent representaion of the real world.

And it seems more and more developers are concentrating on FS2004 as their main choice for addons.

And of course it can be as fun or demanding as you choose. An IFR approach in poor weather one minute, a nice cross country on a clear summers day in a Piper Cub the next, a 7 minute display practice in a Spitfire at Duxford or even a crack at crossing the Atlantic in the Spirit Of St Louis.

The choice is yours! πŸ˜€

Cheers

I only fly in FS2004 for the moment Daz. There are some great freeware scenery of historic airfields. If you want, you can take of to preform a nice display at Duxford. 😎 So I think you will enjoy FS2004.

Some brilliant graffics Daz just look at screenshots thraed. It also answers alot of questions I had so should help you some bit.
You could also look at a thread Manairportmad (think thats who it is) started over weekend asking similar questions as yuorself.
Hope this helps.
