So..what would we like to see in FS2006 then?
My personal list:
* An ATC system that is at least a little bit realistic. The one on FS2004 is just to rigid.
Its either vectors to ILS or to a Visual approach..thats it. No SIDS, STARS, DPs, Holds etc etc.
* The ability to call up approach plates and departure plates as a pop up window. That way you don’t need a second computer or to print every single approach you perform.
* A better built in traffic system, something like Flight 1s Ultimate Traffic.
* Maybe a career mode, like Airliner Pilot. With a proper dispatching and flightplanning tool.
* Better graphics. Its funny how sims like IL2 has way better graphics, and also way better framerates.
* The introduction of Multi-Crew, A very important part of flying anything bigger than a Piper Seneca is CRM, cocpit resource management. In real life it takes 2-3 people to fly an airliner, and in the sim world it is supposed to only take 1? Why is it that some people consider it cheating to have another thing to help? Its just as real as it gets!!
I could probably think of more, but I fear not much of it will appear!!

LOL brought some great pictures to my mind 😀

LOL now thats something I WOULD pay to see!! 😀

All,
A couple of things to bear in mind;
If MS added in all of these suggestions, the ‘disk growth’ would increase rapidly. MSFS used to be sold on one disk, then two, now with FS2004 its 4 disks! Imagine how many disks they would need to fit on all of the above. Land textures…if they are too high detail the size is higher. If they are too low detail then there is no improvement. It’s a fine line they have to walk.
i would guess that it will probably be sold on dvd disks if it takes up more than 5 CDs.
apparently FS10 is due for release in feb 06. apparently we’ll have AI animals and AI road vehicles. i can bet that that’ll be a headache for computer processors and graphics cards.
i hope they get the AI working properly, unlike the aircraft AI they have now. imagine landing on an isolated grass stip with ‘AI animals’ all around it. lets hope we don’t see a cow suddenly take off. lets hope we don’t see horses doing the heathrow – jfk run. imagine seeing a cow fly past you at 33,000 ft.
mmmmoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m not sure if it is yet possible to directly download MSFS from the allocated site, but if it was, imagine your download time for FS2006… “Time remaining – 2 days, 13 Hours 25 Minutes……and 10 seconds 😀 😮 ” lol.
Finally, there are hundreds, of addon retailers out there in sim-world. If MS included everything the sim companies do, they would put a hell of a lot of people out of business! It’s not all fun and games for MS, they have to make the right calls and decisions business wise before taking on-board suggestions for the next version….
But otherwise, I’d LOVE to see a pushback model!! Also a Pa28 in the default hangar pretty please :diablo: !
Regards,
Martyn.

amen adam !!
By: adamdowley - 28th December 2005 at 15:23
– New atc and pilot voices
– more realistic ATC procedures, with something like built in congestion in the holding patterns, SIDs, STARS
– more freedom for third party (free and payware) developers to have access to the code so they can modify the game
– more ground landclass textures, and season textures
– more weather themes
– ability to declare emergencies
– water on the ground during rain etc
– sort out your AI!!!!
…and we as gamers can do the rest – updating airports, adding new aircraft, and altering AI like we do now

I read an article in another well-known GA magazine.
It is apparently possible to get a gizmo for FS2004 which consists of a sensor for the top of your monitor and a little marker you can fix to a headband, baseball cap, or just glue to your forehead if that takes your fancy.
Moving your head then pans the view out of the cockpit in synch. Turn your head left to look left, turn your head right to look right.
Simple.
Can’t be bothered myself, but if you are a really keen simmer it might be worth investigating?
Moggy
That little ‘gizmo’ works in a number of Fltsims, racing sims etc. Must admit I was dubious when it first came out, but bit the bullet last year and bought one. Takes a couple of mins to get used to it at first, but makes a dramatic difference to any fltsim experience, be it bumbling along in a C172 in FS2004 or in the middle of a mass dogfight in Lock-On.
Its one of the very few fltsim products where the hype has been quite justified. Certainly a lot cheaper than a wrap around visual system…. 😉

Moggy, think its called Itrack or something like that. Looks interesting and about £100, so might invest in the future. Am a bit of a simmer, but only props and vintage, but this might be the thing to help flying circuits etc.

(maybe another feature: looking around with mouse like IL-2)

ill wait for the reviews of FS2006 personally myself
By: tomfellows - 27th December 2005 at 23:14
I don’t think that there will be a lot of different stuff in FS2006. I don’t think they will be bothered to add SIDs/STARs and FMCs and Airport Charts, although that would be nice. Anyway, I probably wouldn’t bother rushing out to get it when it comes out – 2004 version is just fine.

I’d like to see:
– some WWII warbirds in the default list
– more detailed small airfields
(maybe another feature: looking around with mouse like IL-2)

And if you want a real online experience its IVAO you want not vatsim 😀
rock freak
I see an error in English grammar here, I remember reading somewhere that the words IVAO and ‘a real online experience’ cannot be associated in the same sentence.
At least with vatsim its simply, squawkbox.

Or you could you use something better than ivao…VATSIM!
IMHO

but the thing is with a community as big as the flight sim one is which such loyal 3rd party developers!
Does microsoft really want to include all fo these features when they can just put in the barbones and let the community do the rest and they will still amke a tidy profit!!!
I would love all of the features above as well!!
And if you want a real online experience its IVAO you want not vatsim 😀
thats my point of view!!!

Instrument Navigation
OK…so MS had decided that they will only take a snapshot of the airports, airways, jetways, VORs, waypoints, etc at the time the game has finished beta testing and is ready for distribution. So why don’t we recieve a full set of maps, charts, etc to complement that data??? I pick up Low Altitude Enroute and Terminal Procedures charts for my flying all the time but none match up (entirely) to what is in FS because of the ongoing changes.
I think if the information is going to remain static that MS should supply the corresponding charts, maps, and procedures. Otherwise, and this is the preferred option, design FS to accommodate real-time changes for these publications so pilots can pick up the publications themselves and fly the current airways, procedures, etc.

Im tired of the grainy terrain textures in MS FS series, especially at low altitude. CFS2 has very sharp ground textures for a low spec sim, I dont see why FS cant do that.
By: concordesst - 6th June 2005 at 17:35
Probably already been mentioned above but i think FS really badly needs a dispatch system, like a tug which pushes the a/c off the gate with a TURN!
And as Helican said, SIDS and STARS!
By: Helican - 6th June 2005 at 14:06
I am aware of the possibilty of adjusting the framerates. My point was that on my system, I can put the graphics in IL2 and Pacific Fighters all the way up including tweaking the config files to get even better graphics…especially water. But at the same time FS9 can only be run with mediocre graphics.
I also have most of the addons I need for FS9…but I still think it should be included.
That good addons are available should not mean that Microsoft can put out a mediocre product. The default panels and models were pretty much outdated upon release.
