FSX Acceleration ADD-ON Activation Issues

Hi all,
I purchased the latest add-on for FSX. Although I was able to activate the FSX program, I am not able to activate the Acceleration add-on. I can still play the sim, but in temporary mode (runs for 30 min only). The error code is 1-80004005. I have searched the net for information, and found a few forums that instructed me to check certain areas in the registry. I checked those areas and they were fine. Has anyone, who has had this problem, ever found a solution? If so, please share it. I’m sure there are tons of frustrated FSX’ers out there with the same problem.

Thanking you in advance,
TT

Hi Tony

Yes, well, if you’re serious about upgrading soon, I strongly suggest you get the highest end computer you can afford. FSX is very processor intensive and a quad core computer with 4GB Ram and a separate 200 GB hard drive will help no end. So will a good graphics card if you don’t already have one. You’ll need extra power too. 850 Watts is not too much and that will need a very good heat sink. And don’t let anybody put you off; Vista 64x is the way to go if you’re spending all that money.

If it is your intention to also get VFR Photographic Scenery in the future, that will lead to even more addons, so an extra 200 GB hard drive will be best to keep that scenery separate. It all works better that way.

Sorry and all that, but it can work out a little expensive, if indeed, you want to go that far.

Wish you luck

John

I am a regular user of Horizon Forum and that has a huge thread devoted to FSX and associated matters. Nothing like your problem has ever appeared in it, so your comment that it must be a general problem doesn’t hold water.

Surely the quickest and easiest thing to do is to uninstall Acceleration and reinstall it – see if that does the trick.

By the way, I know this sounds stupid, but you do have FSX?

Hi John,
First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their help and insight regarding this thread.
John, I have seen two other writeups indicating the same problem. Here is one of the individuals posts. You can view it at www.pc.ign.com near the bottom of the page, along with other posts regarding problems with acceleration.

(“Yeah great game… too bad installing the Accel expansion on my computer causes the activation to go haywire… so playing is limited to 30mins… removing expansion makes FSX run as normal, no limitations.. anyone else have this issue. Listed as Product Activation Error code 1-80004005. Posted by: maverick007nz on October 27, 2007 02:08 PDT”)

Regarding, having a copy of FSX, I originaly had the standard version at first, and had no problem activating FSX. Acceleration would not activate, (hence the reason for this thread)and gave me the error code I mentioned above. I reinstalled FSX, on a clean 300 GB drive, and tried again, but to no avail. Next I brought the Acceleration disk back to the store and traded it in for a new copy, just in case there was a problem with that particular disk. Still no activation. I then proceeded to purchase the deluxe version of FSX. No problem activating FSX Deluxe, but still, no activation on acceleration, and still the same error. The only thing I can think of at this point is that it mentions it requires a minimum 2 GHZ processor. Right now I am running an Intel 1.8 core duo processor. Bet you can guess what my next step is. 🙂

If I do find and or fix the problem, I’ll post it.

Thanks again,
Tony Tee
