I have recently installed FSX and find that the delay(latency) in reaction to a key stroke is very long. Could anyone give me some idea of what this should be, I am using as a bench mark ending a flight by pressing the ESC key it takes at least 1 to 2 seconds for anything to happen.

‘Esc’ in FSX does take a little while to take effect. An easier way may be for you to press ‘Alt’ which brings up a bar. In ‘Flights’ you’ll find ‘End Flight’. Press that and you’re out.
Any other keys you use during flying etc., you should find pretty much instant. That applies to the joystick too.
