FSX vectored me into the mountains!

I did a flight from KSAN (Lindberg field, San Diego) to KASE (Aspen-Pitkin county/Sardy field Colorado) on 737-800 using the standard IFR flight plan offered by FSX. I did a vectored visual approach to runway 15 but ended up high on final so I did a go- around. Followed the instructions (to maintain 9000′) and flew into a mountain.

Does this happen often? I am wondering how the software determines the ATC instructions, because there must be an MSA linked to the scenery, on the real plate it is given as 15700′ in that sector.

FS9 once did that to me. I think on approach to Malaga from Madrid, again it was after a G/A

Are they still doing updates to correct that?

FSX ATC gets it wrong lots of times. It’s not uncommon to be overtaken by a heavy when on finals, be flown into a mountain, given ludicrous approaches of 30 or 40 miles.
