In my “where’s this Hurricane” thread, Robert Whitton asked if I could share some of the shots I took at Lossiemouth during the same 1972 trip to Scotland. Your wish is my command! A selection of 3 is attached. These comprise the Fulmar preserved these days at Yeovilton and a Sea Venom and Sea Hawk, both of which survive I think at East Fortune. The Navy kindly towed these latter outside and placed them however I wanted! Having also flown with the RN for air-to-air work at Yeovilton I can honestly say I’ve always found them the most cooperative and welcoming of the services. Combine that on this 1972 occasion with Scots hospitality and I recall the visit to Lossie was most enjoyable.

The Sea Hawk is at East Fortune and if you look just behind the Fulmar you can see another Sea Venom which from memory is the one at East Fortune. Luckily all the aircraft have been inside most of the time so still look good. I have attached a couple of shots of the Fulmar and the East Fortune Sea Venom plus my only flying Sea Venom picture

Very nice, thats the Fulmar that is now at Yeovilton, right? I’d love to go down and see it one day, too bad pretty much every aircraft has its wings folded
