Can someone explain to me the pros and cons, or why a certain design is better for certain conditions/requirements when it comes to fuselage layout choices in fighters? Primarely, what are the pros and cons of boxy fuselage layouts (mig31, f15 for example) and what are the pros and cons of flatter layouts (mig29/f-14, even f16 to an extent)
It seems there are examples of both interceptors and air superiority fighters with both of those layouts, so it doesn’t seem to be a purely role centric issue.
