I came across this, the original caption says “Focke-Wulf Fw 190 parked in a hangar at Wright Field circa summer 1944. Ken Chilstrom Wright Field test pilot is sitting in the cockpit and Bob Baird is standing near the wing.”
I have never seen a Dora 9 in “wellenmuster camouflage” and can find no details of one captured.
So my question is what’s the I.D. of this aircraft ???
Thanks in advance. Duggy

Thanks for putting me in the right direction.
So was it painted in the states or is this its original colour ??
Regards Duggy.
Yes, repainted at Wright Field.

The paint looks as if it was added later at Wright Field. My guess would be #601088 or #401392, because #211016 had black paint around the exhausts and we know that it’s not the D-13 from the cowling.
Here are the four Doras that were brought to Wright Field for testing:
FE-118 Fw190D-13 #836017 “Yellow 10” of I./JG26 that still survives and now with the Flying Heritage Collection
FE-119 Fw190D-9 #211016 “Black 14” of II./JG26 crashed (fatal) September 22, 1945 from pilot error and impact with the ground
FE-120 Fw190D-9 #601088 now on display at USAF Museum
FE-121 Fw190D-9 #401392 “Black 5” of JG26 was scrapped at Wright Field in 1946
Thanks for putting me in the right direction.

The fuselage cross looks like it is not correctly proportioned.
Perhaps this paint scheme was done post war.

Not summer 1944. First example was captured 1st Jan 45 after Bodenplatte? Belly landed after bird strike. More likely summer 45.
