FW190 Restoration – Shock News re JME Engineering

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

It is with shock and disbelief that I have to inform you that JME Engineering is no more.
Long standing world class restorer Jeremy Moore has called it a day and, after years of secrecy, has now gone public over his career as an aircraft restorer – see the long article below from a local paper

http://www.greatyarmouthmercury.co.uk/content/yarmouthmercury/news/story.aspx?brand=GYMOnline&category=news&tBrand=GYMonline&tCategory=news&itemid=NOED28%20Jan%202010%2017%3A26%3A46%3A377

I was privileged to have been invited as part of a small group of individuals to make 3 visits to his premises over the years to enjoy long, detailed briefings as to the history and difficulties in restoring to flying status the fantastic array of aircraft he has rebuilt.

All aircraft have now gone; and the premises have been sold on.

It was never a case of ‘calling it a day’. Our client decided to draw in his horns, so we had no option but to close.

No ill feelings I can assure you.

I think we can be proud of our achievements!

Incidentally, just because the business has closed, we still cant comment on the work we did, and restrictions on publishing pictures at our request still hold.

Never thought all of that was so close when I visited Martham in my little Sailfish.

Interesting article except for the reporter as usual concentrating on the greed and the glitz.

What were they referring to when they mentioned the ‘Blitz bomber’ … an Arado Blitz?

I thought that as JM had gone public and the FW190 had been delivered it was Ok to Publish – was’nt intending on doind so with other images

Should I therefore remove them from public gaze ?

If I read the website correctly, there is no itention to fly the original Fw190 because they consider it to rare.

No, our original request still stands.

He hasnt gone entirely public – there is a lot he could have said but hasnt!

I think its too late for the pictures, but please lets leave it there.

Real shame and after such beautiful work. Still remember the work and electrics.

Great shame. Hope everyone has found alternative emplyment.

Awaiting the call from Vulcan on whent hey are going to start painting. It will be a beaut when finished.

The Fw190 and Me262 were beauts. Did you complete the Me262 airframe?

Give my regards to Jeremy – architectural hey? My field.

Which one….?

The FHC website only mentions the D-13 as airworthy but too rare to fly.

I’m still hoping one of the original A models under restoration will get airborne soon. (And I also wonder if any FlugWerk owners will one day convert their examples to original specifications with BMWs up front.)

Bruce,

What happened to the two BMW801’s in excellent condition that I spotted in a hangar at North Weald in 1997? They came from Russia I was told at the time.

Cheers
Cees
