The Fw 190 landing gear is electrically operated by independent actuators. Only at the very end (Ta 152) was the gear modified to a hydraulic system.

Damage to the ‘up’ lock I would think. The gear isn’t held up by hyd px.

A button was provided for the pilot to run the gun camera independently.

Anyone care to speculate why only one gear is down?
If hit and hydraulics wouldn’t both gear be down? Perhaps one gear shot off?

Thanks SADSACK for the images which raise a thought with me regarding run time of the Gun Camera, the 190 has had it and the canopy has been jettisoned and possibly the pilot has gone as well. So as the camera is still running does it mean the attacking aircraft is still firing or do gun camera’s ‘run on’ for a period of time. I guess they do so as to help confirmation of claims but for how long do they run.

If the first post would have been a Spitfire Gun camera´s shot, there would have been at least four people dead in a fraction of a second… ;), and I doubt there would have been a camera or picture at all.

Regarding the actual gun camera pictures, it seems the 190 had problems beforehand as well. One maingear in, one out isn´t a very lucky situation anyway….

put the wrong picture up…

I think most of us guessed 😉

You can edit your post if you wish. If you need help with that let me know.

But anyway, that first picture is a great one too.
