If folks don’t mind I’d like to start a thread detailing some of the items we’re looking for to move the project forward. We’re making great progress, but as with all projects there are gaps to fill.
While we’re currently concentrating on the rear fuselage and tail group we’re turning our thoughts to the front end and what we’ll need to complete the engine.
With this in mind we’re looking at this time for parts and literature for the engine and propeller.
Currently, the list of bits we need stands as follows:
For the propeller (de Havilland two blade bracket propeller):
Parts catalogue and overhaul manual
Seal kit
Engine (Gipsy Queen 30)
Magnetos – BTH Type GCD or GCD 1 or GCD/C
Distributors
Generator – Type HX2, 24 volt
Voltage regulator – Type A, 24 volt
Vacuum Pump – Plessey B3X Mk 2
Starter – Rotax C4602
Spark plugs – KLG Type KA 1, KH 1, RC 5/4, RC9/2R, or Lodge LH 1
Fuel Pump
Oil Pump
Engine stand for Gipsy Queen
If anyone knows of the whereabouts of any of these items, or any other Gipsy Queen parts, please drop me a PM.
We’re also trying to pull together details of the history of our G.46 and I’d welcome any photos of her either in service or here in the UK at Shoreham, Southend or Duxford.
Many thanks,
George

Photos
Wonderful photos, and great to see her at Southend.
They’re a superb machine, those who have flown them speak very highly of the type. They’re a nightmare to find parts for, however, and that doesn’t make things easy.
As ever, if anyone knows of any available parts………

The only thing I have to offer, Chippie, is this pic from my one and only visit to HAM in about ’72 or ’73, taken on my trusty old Zenith. I couldn’t afford colour film in those days.

And something else…….
If anyone in East Anglia (or elsewhere) would like to get involved in the G.46 rebuild, or in looking after the PT-19 please drop me a PM. There’s a wide range of tasks, from paint stripping (actually, quite an art to that task to do it properly!) through to sheet metalwork.
Thanks,
George
