Hi
Just seen VC10 G-ARVM heading south on the M40.
Is it heading to Brooklands? It seemed to be the compleate fusalage, is the plan to reassemble it? I thought i’d read only the cockpit was being saved.

Brooklands already has a VC10, (ie the Omani jet) so just be thankfull that they took it on!
I have no clues as to its final use, given the state of the airframe. But at least something survived. It could have gone straight to the smelter….
I only hope when the OS Date for the RAF examples comes up, that they will save some.
The K.4s were ex BA and could have a cosmetic make over, I have been up in one this year, so they would only need to locate the remaining seating for the rear end.

… and pointless, too, now that lovely tail has been trashed. Just like any other fuselage, really.
A lost opportunity, Brooklands.
I wouldn’t call it that. Brooklands had the option of saving nothing, or the fuselage. The tail, wings, undercarriage etc. were too far gone for saving (unless of course a couple of million pounds would have appeared out of thin air, but that didn’t happen).
Having the fuselage preserved is ‘as good as it gets’ to quote the Jack Nickelson movie. I’d rather be thankful for that instead of wishing for things that were not possible.

See thats where you are wrong, this will be a unique interpretation on the VC10 story, a big piece of the Brooklands history.
Sometimes to go and do something different actually becomes more interesting.

Some pictures at Brooklands this afternoon. The last of any of the BA Collection to leave Cosford.

Arrived at midnight, safely back after 42 years. Some beauty treatment follows a little reconstructive surgery.
