Stormbird:
I’ve found the fate of the Rapide. SHe was written off in a crash near RAF Fraserburgh on 13 December 1942.
None of the Tiger Moths survive.
Hope that helped.

Glad to hear you are out, Stormbird.

2. Ex-British W.W.II pilot Richard Hall, date of birth 19/6/1920, now Australian (citizen, I presume). Can anyone help with his service details; he served in N Africa among other places, and is now in a nursing home and Stormbird’s phone call was cut short as Dick was getting too excited reminiscing.

A quick check on the Australian W.W.II Nominal Roll throws up a few Richard Halls, but they weren’t pilots, as far as I can see – If he was not an Australian citizen in W.W.II, he wouldn’t be included, I presume.

Any other ideas?

Sorry Old Boy, can’t really understand your banter;)

You sure it’s just fags your smoking?

I think being very ill and on serious medication might affect most of us…

Translation:

1. There’s a British film called ‘Q Planes’. Do any of the aircraft in it survive (registrations included in post) and Stormbird would like to see any photos that can be found.

Anyone care to help?

Here is a bit of evidence for chasing it down

Clouds Over Europe – (Great Britain; London Films 1939, 78m or 82m) D: Tim Whelan. George Curzon = Jenkins, Valerie Hobson = Kay Hammond, Laurence Olivier = Tony McVane, Ralph Richardson = Maj Charles Hammond. Screenplay: Jack Whittington, Brock Williams. Tongue-in-cheek mystery picture; minor flying. British title: Q-Planes.

AIRCRAFT: DH.82A Tiger Moth, DH.89A Dragon Rapide.
