G-GDFC Jet2 Tailstrike repaired !

G-GDFC arrived at Norwich today from Funchal, Madeira, repaired, following a tailstrike ‘incident’ earlier in the year !
Only visible evidence being green primer panels ! So why Norwich ? is it here for further repairs … paintwork … or as some locals have suggested … parting out ???????

Keith 🙂

Thank you all for your input ! To continue …. This aircraft arrived on 12 April seemingly for work with KLM Engineering, as many Jet2 aircraft do, it left on 14 April for Bournemouth, I am told, for paintwork ! thus not taking advantage of the Air Livery paint shops here at Norwich ??
The latest Jet2 arrival, still here, also seemingly with KLM Engineering, arrived a few days later G-GDFY formerly HA-LKE with Travel Service in an eye catching all over white colour scheme bearing the new British registration ! Stale easter egg for the first person to show the age of this one 😎

Would it have needed to be repaired to that standard if flying for parting out

maybe flown unpressurised it could have been positioned with minimal work

I would think this is at Norwich for finishing.

The number of owners is irrelavent. It is the standard of maintenance that is crucial meaning a machine with 16 owners, or more likely operators, on short terms could be in better shape than one that has flown with the original owner for 15/16 years. many changes of operator has probably meant more than the normal overhauls as it’s checked between assignment.

…and thus far seems to be a working policy for them

Maybe. Has had a very chequered career. Almost sixteen years old, had about six owners and almost sixteen changes of leases. Is currently on lease to Jet2 or is it? 😉

With the average fleet age of 22 years (according to planespotters.net) it’s young for them, they have 4 more 737’s due to be delivered and they are all around 12 years old.
