Has anyone got any update as to what is happening to the BA 777 (G-YMMM) that was involved in the crash at LHR earlier this year. I see it most days whilst at work, its just sat where it was moved to soon after the incident, but nothing really seems to be happening to it?
Have the AAIB/CAA actually found out the cause of the problem which led to the crash?
Will they report their findings, and if so when will it be published?
Any info would be much appreciated.:)

I saw the BBC News story about it on TV last night. It showed footage of the aircraft where it is being held now.
I presume it’s not planned to return to service?

The aircraft was writtain off days after the accident. Shame, could have been a nice little overtime earner for somebody!

Latest news here, aircraft is Written off.
Sad to see a 777 like this although in service for about 12 years they still seem like a new aircraft.

As luck would have it, I just saw a feature on the news this morning to say that the AAIB is due to publish its report later today…

Last I heard the fuel system was being being stripped, rebuilt and examined in detail.
Being commercially sensitive as you would expect, finding out anything reliable which can be reported is difficult. Yes it was odd and is taking some investigation. That takes time to get right which is what matters.
It won’t be long though (comparatively) before it’s on Sky and we are all complaining we’ve seen it before!!

The full report has not been issued yet – the last ‘special bulletin’ for G-YMMM can be found here:
http://www.aaib.gov.uk/publications/special_bulletins/s3_2008___boeing_777_236_er__g_ymmm.cfm
They’ve narrowed the problem down to a fuel system restriction but don’t know the exact sequence of events.
