Gambian President's 727 and Alice in Wonderland…

First an arrival this morning at Southend, seemingly just a Thomas Cook A320….

But when I went round and saw the other side parked on stand, it had some Alice in Wonderland (of all things) stickers on it…

And then later on, C5-GAF the Gambian President’s 727 which has been at Southend in maintenance and storage since August 2010 went out on high power engine runs….

The rumble was great, however it took quite a long time, over 2 hours before it returned to the hangar. Therefore it was only 2 minutes before sunset when I took these photos. Looking much better than it was, albeit still missing the horizontal stabiliser.

It clearly had new beacon lights, which were very easy to catch:

How I look forward to this 1966 727 flying again….

EGTC, yes the plan is to have C5-GAF flying again and sent back to the Gambia. Was quite an important step for it to do high power engine runs again, albeit with a hitch, as it had to shut down half way through.

Are there any plans to get the B727 flying again, or is it stored?

Seem to have posted this thread in the wrong forum by accident, perhaps why i couldn’t find it again!

Thanks EGTC and Newforest for your comments, would certainly be excellent to see C5-GAF fly again!

Another controversial African President, Yahya Abdul-Aziz Jemus Junkung Jammeh! Hope they finish the work on the 727. 🙂

Good catches.
Wonderful to see the B727 active.
