Gander?

Hi guys.

It seems like my caribbean adventure is fast coming to an end. This weekend I am most likely going to Gander, Newfoundland, Canada for a job interview. Talk about a change of scenery!!!

Anyone here know anything about the place?
I understand that it is a routing on delivery flights, and that there is a chance to see some wierd and wonderful flying machines up there….but it looks so cold!!

Oh well…tired of the sun anyways

Fly safe

If there are heavy headwinds over the Atlantic, Gander will see a lot of stuff stopping for a top-up 🙂

Well, actually I am hoping that I will get the job.
Onwards and upwards…as they say.
The Antillean way gets kinda tiring after a year or so….

The job here sounds a whole lot better than it is, but as my girlfriend says…”you are living every 11yr old boys dream….helicopters, beaches and computer games”…so I am definitely going to miss it.

I watched a documentary about Air Traffic Control a few weeks ago and correct me if I’m wrong, but for a lot of transatlantic traffic, this the first decent sized airport they will come across if they’re en-route from Europe, so its frequently used as a diversion if there are rowdy passengers on board.

There’s a chance I may be in Gander in a few weeks….all be it for about 15 mins. Excel have been routing some of there Cuba bound 762’s via Gander for fuelling when their 763’s have been out for maitainence.

Think one or two other European charters may still use it as a fuel stop….can anyone confirm this?

A little bittersweet. That’s a huge change of scenery. We definitely enjoyed the SXM pics while they lasted. Best of luck Helican.
