Reading ‘Air Britain News’ i see that during June /July Gannet AEW.3 G-BMYP/XL502 was on the ramp at Sandtoft and was quoted as being “virtually complete”. Can anyone confirm that this is the airworthy Gannet.
I recall David Burke confirming to me that there was a Gannet at Sandtoft earlier this year, but dont think we ever fully confirmed that this was the flier.
Thanks in advance
Phil

I’m afraid so Black Knight, great shame to see it in such condition.

Was this the one owned and flown by Neil Moffat about 10 years ago?

XL502 Sandtoft Gannet
Attached is a picture of XL502 at Sandtoft taken by myself on 14th Aug 2003.
The CoA expired I believe in 1989 but it was the last airworthy one in the UK when it arrived by air from Carlisle.

Gannet in the UK
All,
There has indeed been a deposit put on Wally’s Gannet…. and there is a plan to fly it back to the UK in March / April next year…
Got your interest now haven’t I!
I am serious, but we haven’t inspected the aircraft yet (booked for Jan) nor learnt to drive it…. but it can’t be that hard can it?
I am looking for ANY info on the type, pilots notes etc and am happy to pay or collect if required.
