From the official website;
“Also we are working at the logistics of βJanetβ appearing in the UK for one or two shows before returning back to continue her appearances around the USA”.

Excellent. Some culture on this forum at last.

Ahhh, yes….
Once proud bird of the Royal Navy
Hunting subs in the deep blue sea
Now on land, it’s fate unknown
Inside another twill soon be flown…
Fairey Gannet, in Goose Bay now
Migrate her south before the snow
Fold her wings and pack her tight
Ready for her homeward flight…
Push her in, back her out
She won’t fit came a mighty shout
Scratching heads, all a frown
Someone thought, let the tyres down…

Fingers crossed – would love to see this beautiful aircraft flying in the UK, however it is a long way to come, so won’t hold my breath for now. I’m guessing it will be ‘flown’ across as cargo in the back of something big, rather than under its own steam?
Looking forward to seeing XL500 back in the air again too! π
What like this!!!!

Only if they are unique airframes Andy ; )

On the other hand, what about the potential for it getting scratched in transit? I thought this warbirds crossing the Atlantic as cargo malarkey was considered ‘high risk’ these days?

I would not hold my breath waiting for this ‘event’ to happen. I agree with Wyvernfan that this could be a ‘water test’ exercise.

I would be very surprised if they risked flying such a rare aircraft over the pond under it’s own power? Maybe the guys that own XT752 have contacts – after all wasn’t it flown to them in the back of an AN-224. If an a/c (AN-224) is scheduled to fly back to the UK empty, then perhaps they are taking advantage of this…
Either way – would love to see it again… sat in the cockpit of it at CU in Aug 1983…blimey that was 30 years ago… eek!
Or Possibly a USAF / RAF C17 I am sure she will fit π

Would be great to see this happen. The Gannet has been missing from UK skies for far too long now π

Thats an interesting point, Nick. I’m wondering if “one or two” appearances would be enough financially to justify coming over to the UK – whether as a ferry flight or as cargo?! Maybe the statement is a way of testing the water to see what the level of interest is here, re possible airshow appearances.

I would LOVE to see a Gannet flying at an airshow here soon!!;)

I hope both happen soon. A Gannet is almost as exciting as a Ta-152 to me.

Indeed MM, although nothing seems definate yet.
But thankfully the guys at St Athan are working hard to get the UK’s own example, AEW.3 XL500, flying again.
Hmm on second thoughts i wonder if the two owners could get together so ‘752’s visit could coincide with the return of ‘500’ to the air !

That’s great news! Hope she manages to make a few more appearances during her time here. Sad that we don’t have a flying example based in the UK.
