has anyone got pictures of the gateshead spitfire and some information to go with it
Also some pictures of gateshead in the 1940s as i require these for my ATC squadron
some help ASAP would be great 🙂

Thanks Baz, its for that reason im looking for the information, as my ATC team is making said model in memory of the model builder

also would this have any bearing on a certain aircraft modelling competition next month?
dont count on having an ATC monopoly. i’m letting wing know as well as 1027 and 607 😛

Had a trawl through some of my stuff, no pictures though. it seemed to be in the workshop quite a lot with collapsed undercarraiges and survived till late 1944, when it was scrapped.

but they don’t appear to be there now. You need to email them to put them back up.
There was a young man who died of cancer recently who made an accurate model of this spitfire which was donated to the North East Aircraft Museum, this might be useful.
There is a small write up in a book called ‘Gifts of War’ page 144.
I’ve written the serial (R7125) on my white board and if any pops up I’ll let you know.
