This looks like a brilliant event. I assume just display, no flying?
I should think a certain Mr Teichman will probably be flying one of his collection.

No flying, Whats the point of the show?
Aircraft belong in the sky doing what they do best flying.

Its a gathering of warbirds and veterans, much like a fly in. You can get incredibly close to the aircraft whilst on the ground and can see them arriving and departing, sometimes flybys happen after departure too.
Unfortunately it is now difficult to get authorisation for display flying at North Weald due to airspace restrictions.
Cheers, Huw:)
Errrrm was going to get the tent out for a airing i’ll think about it a long way to go for a static weekend shame no flying have to get there early to catch them on landing some may be there the night before.

Is it? It’s news to me:rolleyes: Does this mean that the CAA Exemption for display practice is now no longer available?

I’m thinking of taking the trip regardless. A visit to the museum is long over due, maybe not much flying will happen, but I see the purpose of such a fly-in and it could serve well as a nice little weekend trip, a small pilgrimage for me personally after all the work on the book. A full circle sort of thing.

What is the basis of all these ‘No flying’ comments? The event is a) at North Weald, a vibrant active airfield housing a wonderful variety of flying historic aircraft and b) involves other historic aircraft based elsewhere that by dint of that fact will need to fly in and fly out!!
Only yesterday there was a P-40 taxiing around and a Hurricane flying and that was a freezing January day!!

Thank you SE5FAN. I had heard that name and the connection there. Just checking.
With all due to respect to the veterans, that is somebody I would like to meet if I attended.

PP-Primarily this event is intended as a charity fund raiser for Help for Heroes and the Sydney Camm Trust and not just another airshow. This is reflected by the low entrance fee. It is a unique chance to get up close to some warbirds normally out of reach in a sterile live side (Legends flightline walk excepted). It is also an opportunity to meet a large gathering of aviation veterans. If this doesnt float your boat PP, fine, dont go. But please dont knock an event trying to do a little good work.;)

Oh for the days of John Watts,Paul Warren Wilson ,at the Fighter Meet ,i dont care what anyone says ,it was not the loss of the Market stalls that killed off the Air show ,,it was the the Policing costs ,which killed off the fighter meet, still now the Lawyer who was the King pin has moved to France ,things are changing at the Weald ,,good news

Easy tiger, i won’t knock any event for Help the heroes i do and have give to this charity.
As for the event it’s just a long trip for a static one day event no it’s not my cup of tea but if you lot like it fair enough if had a flying display then i would. enjoy it. PP.
