Great pics, and I always enjoy seeing DUB shots. Don’t suppose you got an Aer Lingus A330 shots ?

I was at LGW on Sunday and noticed a European 747 in the blue colours outside on of the hangers i believe it is G BDXH with an engine missing. Looking at the above picture I know where it has gone now. It was missing from the exact same place.

Dublin is very good for Aircraft Spotting!
If you want landing/takeoff pictures hop in a taxi is the best way and for £2 they will take u to the viewing “hills” along the permetre parallel with the runway.
Then if it changes £0.50 gets u down to the other end by Runway 10 threshold. (Taxis run all day long here every 1 min or so ull get about 5 as main road back to dublin)
£2/3 back to the terminal from there.
It is very cheap for the distance you go and the walk is VERY VERY long from the terminal and takes 30mins!
Not sure of car directions but if you ask th Garda (police) they are friendly and will direct you.
In the terminal very limited views apart from the McDonalds window which shows the Aer Lingus Bae146 stands, Aer Arrann and to an extent the ryanair 732 stands.

Afraid not. I was really hoping that I’d get one of an Aer Lingus A330 as I saw one last time I was there but didn’t get a picture because my camera had been stolen, hopefully next time I’ll get one.

Martin the blue one would have been G-BDXH.
And yes I envy you more! 😀

Thanks guys! Andrew I’m afraid I’m about to make you even more jealous as there was not just one, but two EAL 742s at Gatwick yesterday 🙂 The other was parked over in the maintenance area and was also wearing the old livery, this time with the blue strip. Furthermore last time I was at Gatwick in July I was also lucky enough to see an EAL 742 wearing the new livery!

Martin… what can I say other than they are absoulutely stunning! Very very good pictures. I think of all the pics you have posted these are the best yet.
Euro Atlantic is an airline based in Portugal. They some times operate flights into LHR on behalf of BWIA.
Just to say, im envyous of you for 2 reasons.
1. You saw an EAL 742 at LGW. Of all the times I have been up to LGW this year, not once have I seen one close up. I see that the one in your pic appears to be wearing the cowling from G-BDXH. When up at LGW for the first time this, I saw BDXH, though it was parked right over by the tower. An when at Redhill Airshow last month, G-BDXG in the new EAL c/s flew over.
2. You’ve seen a FlightJet aircraft!!!! I hate you! 😀 I kid. 🙂
Once again great pics. And lucky you were to fly on an aircraft that is only days old….oh and lovely sunset shots too!

Thanks for the EAL info. wannabe pilot, I use a very bog standard off the shelf digital camera, a Fujifilm FinePix 2600Zoom. It’s nothing special, only does 2.0 Mega Pixels and 3x Zoom, but it meets my requirements.
I did indeed just go to Dublin for the day to go spotting, as you may know I’m in the middle of my Oxford Air Training Selection process and so I decided I needed a day off studying and panicking just to relax and have a good time.
All the photos I took in Dublin are taken through windows in the terminal (airside). I didn’t really get a chance to go and have a look outside of the terminal for good spots as my flight back left only 4 hours after I landed!

Some very nice photos there. What camera do you use? I’m not too kenn on the Ryanair new livery either. Did you go to Dublin for the day specifically fro spotting, and if so where abouts can you go to watch the planes there?

The European B742 was operating the EAF122 LGW-SFB

They’re nothing spectacular but I hoped you’ve enjoyed them.

This was the best shot I could get of the aircraft I flew back on, as I said earlier, it’s the newest addition to the fleet.

I saw about five Ryanair 737-800s all painted up in this new livery, I’m not too keen on it, I preferred the previous one, but they have also refitted the interiors. On the flight back I flew on the newest addition to the fleet and the seats are blue leather, it was also of course painted up in the new livery. Inside a definate improvement….outside, I’m not so sure about.

A closer shot of that Euro Atlantic Tristar and a Singapore Airlines 747-400F in the background.
