Hi all,
I was at Gatwick last night at Midnight picking up my Dad’s mate (from Rome) and I have a few quiries:
1) Why was every flight late by at least 30 mins(the one we were waiting for was 2hrs late)
2) Can anyone shed any light on why there was a diversion from Bournemouth to Gatwick from Malaga.
3) Why were there potentially suicidal AC Milan supporters in the arrivals when a flight full of Liverpool fans had just landed.
4) Why are the rows of seats in the arrivals hall in the South Terminal so uncomfortable to sleep on??

1) Possibly ATC delays in Europe somewhere causing a knock-on effect?
2) Perhaps Bournemouth doesn’t operate at that late hour necessitating the diversion, again perhaps caused by ATC delays?
3) A good question. What earthly reason would Milan supporters have for meeting a flight full of Liverpool fans? Can’t have been travelling from Istanbul back home to Milan, unless they were on a circular tour of Europe?
4) Shamrock and DashQ have answered that one. However, you may be advised to sleep on the floor, it would almost certainly be more comfortable.
Regards,

as a regular visitor to both gatwick terminals ( i own an executive transport company that does lots of airport transfers), i have noticed that some flights arriving after midnight can be 10mins up to 4hrs late, the seats are uncomfy, and it feels almost like your sitting on the floor. The Costa coffee shop in the North terminal arrivals is supposed to be 24hrs, but is seldom open after midnight (the staff can be usually found smoking in the special area) The North terminal may be more modern looking and user friendly, but for late flight arrivals in my opinion the South Term is much better, plenty of staff on hand,i can get a Cafe Latte with an extra shot of expresso too…these are just my humble opionions after 3 years since starting the company and doing in excess of 100,000miles a year on airport trips alone

I also tried sleeping on the rows of seats in the arrivals hall at Gatwick’s South Terminal once, but was unsuccessful.

I cant answer 1 to 3 but 4 is pretty simple. They arnt beds nor are they designed for people to sleep on.
