Just a quick reminder for those who may not know, Gatwick Aviation Museum http://gatwick-aviation-museum.co.uk re-opens this weekend after being closed for the winter. Yes, we do still exist!
This year we expect to re-commence public engine runs of at least three of our airframes, namely the Buccaneer S1, Shackleton Mk3 and new to the list the Lightning F53. Details of when these runs will take place will be announced on the web site. Also one of our number has taken up the challenge of updating our Facebook page. From now on a lot of what is happening at GAM will first appear there. All things being equal, the lightning will be having its No.2 engine fitted on the 19th of April and we expect to commence test runs of both engines in May and if all is well we’ll be ready for public runs soon after.
The plan for the other airframes includes bringing two more to run state in a fairly short timescale with others following in the months and years ahead, we have also been looking at planning an acquisitions policy.
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all of those who have supported us over the years and particularly during the past twelve months or so, thank you!

I (or someone from GAM) will certainly post when the Lightning is going to its public runs.
The timescale is fluid and of course it depends on everything working. We had to re-splice nearly a 1,000 electrical connections alone so we fully expect to have some fault finding to do. Providing we don’t find any “show stoppers” we hope to be ready to run publicly in late June or more realistically July.

All the best to our friends at Gatwick… I hope your opening goes well and you have a cracking season. Please keep us informed of Shackleton progress; in particular dates of runs – I’d love to come see WR982 growl, and I reckon most of the rest of the Coventry team would too.
Kind regards,
Rich
