Well yesterday I went up to LGW minus A330Crazy who decided a job interview was more important  😀 I turned up at the spectator gallery at 10:30 and was presented with all the mornings American arrivals, and about one hour later the first Easyjet A319 touched down on 26L. Sadly the viewing facilities at LGW are poor, and so I got only a 2 second glimpse of her, hardly enough time to take a photo! Also yesterday was the last day of BA ATR operations, and I managed to get some photos of the 2 remaining ones, before they are retired today.
Also, before I give you the list of things I saw I’ll give you the good news! While I was up there a group of “suits” gathered at around lunchtime. They were standing very close to myself and another gentleman I had met up there, and of course we earwigged their conversation! After having listened intently for 5-10 minutes I am now reasonably confident that the Gatwick Skyview WILL close, however this will only be in the short term. The closure will allow building work and expansion of the South terminal for passengers, but when the spectator gallery opens again next year it will have been expanded. We couldn’t quite work out how it was to be expanded as the only plan we saw was for emergency exits, however considering the gallery already has these, we came to the conclusion that it should be vertically rather than horizontally! However as I have said this is only based on snippets of the conversation we managed to hear, so please don’t take it as the gospel truth!
Right, here is the list of exciting sights:

Perhaps the gallery will be raised above the level of the pier roof.
That would be the reason to move the aircraft out of the way. It would give a pretty clear view from the runway round to the satellite. FX.
mmitch.

Ah yes sorry EAL_KING how could I forget that! G-BDXH (EAL 742 in new colours) landed as I got there, parked on the south satellite clearly visable to me, and left as I left!
As for G-BOOC that doesn’t exist! G-OOBC I did see though. Also I now have only one final BA 737 to get – G-DOCH! After 5 visits to LGW I still haven’t seen it! I also have to get GB Airways 733 G-OGBC.
