Gee Bee Y vs Ryan STA

Hi, opinions please, which is the better looking aircraft? and which would make a better ( usable) replica. The construction is quite different, Ryan STA sheet metal, and an inline engine, Cirrus, Menasco, Lom, etc, but plans are available, and it has been done before. Model Y, steel tube, wood wings, fabric, very much a typical homebuilt type const. Radial engine, Lyc R680, Jacobs, ( maybe a 985 if it fits) and again plans are available.
I would have put this in historic as to me they both plainly are, but they rebel if it`s not spitfire related!!
By the way, yep, I like BIG wheelpants!
Both 2 seat, and look to be quite flyable aircraft.
comments invited!
cheers

Personally I have always thought the Ryan was a stunner. If I had the time (and money!!!!!) that would be my choice.

My guess is the Gee Bee would be easier to make…unless you’re a wiz at metal work. As you point out the GeeBee is steel tube & wood formers.
IMHO: For what it would cost to build a Ryan, you could probably buy a PT-22 and save yourself years of work. 😀
As for appearance: both are really neat, the Ryan is art deco-ish, the Gee Bee though is a rarer shape.

A tough decision…(we should all have it so hard). 😀 😀 😀
