Hello Chaps,
I found a LIFE picture of No 85 Squadron and I notice some details that I want to share with you to hear your opinions.
The first picture (link) shows No 85 Squadron Hurricane, see the unusal camouflage paint.
According with some sources just three Hurricanes were painted like that.

The second show Geoffrey Allard returning from a sortie, if you see this picture on Hurricane Aces 1939-40 (Tony Holmes) Page 87 you will see that is the same aircraft, I mean everything is there (dirty, weather details, etc.) check the undercarriege dirty!

My question is, could be this aircraft Hurricane VY-K P3408 (if you see first picture, you can see the individual letter looks like K)?

Also I found this aircraft profile on a Polish Book. The serial is unknown. Do you know the source of reference that the author took?

Hi RAF Pilot,
The first two Huricanes are definitely ‘K’ it’s easily identified when magnified: straight back stroke and leaning forward front stroke, can’t be anything else. However, I would suggest the third Hurricane is a different aircraft. The demarcation line on the front cowl is a different shape, it has a downwards bend in the middle of it.
Stick the ‘K’ code on your model and leave the number until you find it for certain.
Best Wishes.
Robert.

Geoffrey Allard Hurricane
Hello HurriRV7,
Thank you very much for your reply.
Yes you all right I am anxious to find Sammy Allard’s Hurricane, that I truly believe that is the aircraft but I am not sure right now.
The source came from a gentleman of Battle of Britain Historical Society, he told me that just three Hurricanes have that kind of camuflage.
Hurricane VY-K P3408 (third picture)
Hurricane VY-R P2923
But I do not have the Code Letter and Serial Number of the third Hurricane.
That probably it is the Sammy Allard (Second Picture).
And the Aircraft profile that I attached has no pictures references or something like that but I have my doubts because the spinner is not black so does not match with the second picture.
Best Regards.

Hi RAF Pilot,
Definitely the first two pictures you posted are of the same aircraft.
It’s tough to know for certain if the third picture is of the same aircraft- the cowling markings are of a similar style, but you might just be convincing yourself that the K on this image means that the first two images also have K’s.
It is an interesting camouflage scheme.
What source is it which says that this scheme was used only 3 aircraft?
Regards,
