Just got hold of a German aircraft clock, apparently from a ‘German Aircraft shot down by Priddy H.G. Lewis Gun,August 1940’.Can’t find any record of the aircraft or anything coming down at Priddy on the Mendips….anyone?

It looks like a Fl 23885 Version 5, which dates it 1942 – 1945. Certainly doesn’t date from August 1940 I’m afraid.

Here it is…no idea on type,no date either, mounted in a rubber seal.was wedged into a antique porcelain clock surround……any ideas?,does it look right…Priddy is on the Mendips .Its still in perfect working order….but I thought it looked a bit too modern for a wartime aircraft…Russian post war even?

As Ian says, sounds like this one….
Clock should probably be a Fl 23885 clock. Have seen Fl 23886-1 or 23888.

Sounds like the He111 at Charterhouse, Mendips. Only a few moments flying from Priddy. Would love to see the clock, wish I’d got a nice lump of Stirling….

Was priddy the person who shot it down perhaps?

August 14th, as I recall, there was a He 111 in the Mendips. Not sure if near Priddy, though?
