German fly-ins cancelled

It seems that Tannkosh is no more, and Hahnwide will not be held in 2015 either. Both cite increased German bureaucracy and the risks associated with promoting these events as the reasons for the cancellations.

A real shame, I thoroughly enjoyed Hahnwide last year, one of the best vintage events I’ve been to, and was really looking forward to returning next September. 🙁

Hoping the event will return. It really is a truly magical place. A place you could call home and along with good company it is hard to beat!

I shall miss the French glider trailers… :very_drunk:

Fortunately there was not too much breadth or depth to the ditches! 😉

So many happy memories at Hahnweide, the airfield of dreams. I dearly hope the event returns in future years, it really was one of a kind.

As you know Mike, I’m gutted that Hahnweide has been cancelled. I attended in 2011 and 2013, each time spending a full 5 days at the airfield, and it will be a long while before anything surpassed the warmth of the place, to say nothing of the breadth and depth of visiting aircraft. If you’re a vintage enthusiast, Hahnweide was perhaps the event for you.

Crossing my fingers that it returns in future years, but I’m not getting my hopes up.

If true that’s a great shame, Hahnweide has been on my bucket list for a while. It just goes to show we should do things sooner rather than later…

I sincerely hope there’s some sort of resolution to the problems for the sake of everyone involved.
