Does anyone have any experience of researching via the German Military Archives at Frieberg ?
Is it user friendly are they bi lingual to inquiries what sort of ww2 material is available?.
Thinking along the lines of info on Whirlwind crash sites as I understand the Germans where very methodical and reasonably accurate when it came to logging and recording crash sites. As we need to pin down a bit more accurately over 12 crash sites on land and in water.
Also trying to find some info on captured Whirlwind recovered and taken back to Germany hopeful of a detailed report on their assessment and examination of the almost complete aircraft.

Hi
Good luck.
The rechlin museum has no records, and Freiburg hard to get throu’ without a paid german researcher.
The photos of the belgian crashes I was allowed to see all show real wrecked aircraft, that would not really justify any sort of intellengence report.
there is a series of crash reports,
Beuteauswertung
but I have not found any whirlwind ones yet,
and a series of general reports
Ergebnisse Beuteauswertung
again nothing whirlwind yet.
if you google the titles you should bring up some examples of the quality of the reporting.
this may help with some french crashes

From my research it would appear as if you could be looking for at least two (possibly three) aircraft
cheers
