A Germanwings Airbus A319-100, registration D-AKNM performing flight 4U-2376 from Stuttgart (Germany) to London Stansted,EN (UK) with 134 passengers and 5 crew, was in the initial climb out of Stuttgart’s runway 07 when the left hand engine (CFM56) ingested a bird. The crew levelled off at 5000 feet, throttled the engine back to idle and returned to Stuttgart’s runway 07 for a safe landing 13 minutes after departure.
A post flight inspection revealed three fan blades were damaged.
