Germanwings new base – Berlin SXF

Germanwings is to establish a new base at Berlin Schonefeld with flights to Turkey,Croatia, Sweden and domestic flights in Germany.

Ankara – 3 times weekly
Cologne-Bonn – 3 times daily
Dusseldorf – 3 times daily
Istanbul – 4 times weekly
Munich – 3 times daily
Split – 3 times weekly
Stockholm – 5 times weekly
Stuttgart – 3 times daily
Zagreb – 3 times weekly

Surprised Germanwings chose Berlin as their next base. None of their routes compete against easyJet though some of the routes compete against Hapag Lloyd Express and dba from Tegel.

Maybe easyJet may fight back by launching domestic services from Berlin to Cologne,Dortmund and Munich?
